Welcome to the Strelets Forum.
Please feel free to discuss any aspect of 1/72 scale plastic figures, not simply Strelets.
If you have any questions about our products then we will answer them here.
I for one have been thrilled with Red Box's fantasy figs! I know there has been a lot of talk about them mimicking the LOTR films & that is just fine with me! I have noticed figures in sets that even help us reenact the films! Kalf Orcs3 has the bomb wielding warriors as well as 2 carrying halflings! The 2 pouring could easily be pouring metal for weapons in Saruman's foundry! There is a Warg riding Saruman in Half Orcs Warg Riders set. Heck, for that matter, even Caesar made us a heck of a Gandalf as well as some Elven women who can be used for Galadriel & Arwen! I know they've both strayed a bit, but one can only hope they continue with LOTResque sets for quite awhile! I for one am very happy with the Amazons coming up & who hasn't wanted Zombies? The Lizardmen & Ratmen are fantastic as well!
i'm quite unsatisfied with elves, there should be high elves in armour and wood elves light infantry, at least two different boxed sets.
goblins could be improved too.
dwarfs, orcs, wargs and uruk-hai seem to be good enough.
for rohan you could use (strelets/orion/zvezda) rus, but even vikings, saxons and dark age armies.
for gondor i think (hat expecially) crusaders could fit the role.
for warhammer empire (dark dream/red box) landsknechts and swiss are perfect.
for bretonnians 100YW soldiers are good.
i really love undead armies!
ancient egyptians, indians, ancient germans & celts, arabs, mongols, han & ming & manchu, samurais, ottomans, zulu, american indians could be colourful and exotic armies.
i'm looking 1/72 dinosaurs for lizardmen (to go along aztec and maya armies!)
i'm looking for 1/72 dragons too.
now, could we start talking about sci-fi too?
...sci-fi and mythologic subjects.
amazons are a much appreciated subject, but why not centaurs, satyrs and fauns, minotaurs too (mmh... it sounds like narnia isn't it?) and armoured bears (golden compass?)
i hadnt realized till now that between caesar and alliance, their will be close to 40 fantasy sets produced.
& they are NOT done! Caesar says they will be producing more Fantasy sets & Red Box has no intention of resting on their laurels!
Giorgio; WOW! OK, I see your points, but can we finish LOTR first? But I do agree there needs to be more Elves! I actually already spoke to them about this.
As for using current sets for humans; NO! If they are going to do this, let's do it right! I don't want to go back to the bad old days of using "Napoleonics for Mexicans & Cowboys for Texans for Alamo!" type of thing! Make the armies of Rohan & Gondor! I don't want to settle! Make some of the other human armies that sided with Sauron as well!
I know you want dedicated figures for Gondor and Rohan and I would definitely agree on Gondor, however, I don't think you could do much better than Lucky Toys Huns for Easterlings, much criticised as being too fantastical for real Huns but great for fantasy.
Thanks for backing me on Gondor! But Rohan does need specific figs as well! Yje Huns might be good for human allied to Sauron, but Rohirum? Not a chance!
