Re: Some WW2 suggestions.

I agree with RCD, Colonial Vichy French is a good idea. We have lots of Afrika Korps and 8th Army but Vichy French would be nice too. They wear a unique mixture of German and French kit.

Re: Some WW2 suggestions.

Yes I agree
Colonial Vichy French- a big gap for the North Africa /Middle East and one Strelets would fill well.

Japanese Army in China in cold weather gear (Infantry and Cavalry)another gap that needs filling.

In addition:
Free French Troops North Africa
Free French Colonial troops for Italy

Tito`s partisans
Greek Army 1941
Hungarian Army Battle of Budapest
Dutch Army 1940 (since I doubt the half set from the Taiwanese company will appear anytime soon)
Norwegian Army 1940

Re: Some WW2 suggestions.

I second all of Duncan's suggestions.

Re: Some WW2 suggestions.

Although a few non-interested ideologists argue unremittingly that the whole WWII-topic is already complete since Airfix did some sets 50+ years ago, a list of desirable & reasonable sets is almost endless.

Africa Korps Heavy Weapons
Gebirgsjäger Heavy Weapons
Italian Bersaglieri
Finnish Infantry summer + winter sets, also heavy weapons
Dutch Infantry + heavy weapons
Romanian Infantry summer & winter
Romanian Cavalry
more Polish Infantry 1939
Polish Cavalry
French 1940 Heavy Weapons
US 1941 Infantry (Philippines/Pacific ToW)
French Chasseurs Alpins and/or cold weather troops (Alps, Norway)
more Hungarian Infantry (early & late eastern front)
Japanese Special Naval Landing Forces
Fallschirmjäger Heavy Weapons
French Colonial Infantry North Africa/Italy
Sikh Infantry Burma 1944-45
Greek Infantry/Mountain Troops 1941
Titos partisans with mules
Japanese Infantry in cold weather gear for China/Manchuria
LRDG/SAS
...
artillery crews:
- British/Commonwealth (North Africa, Italy, Asia, NW Europe,...)
- German (late war, North Africa, Gebirgsjäger, Fallschirmjäger, ...)
- French 1940
- Italian
- US Marines
- US Army (winter gear)
- Finnish (winter)
- Japanese
...

Actually I liked the the orginal concept from Airfix that seemed to be two sets that could be used as opposites ie a German set and a British/Russian. Yes it was a simplistic approach. There always was a balance between the sides. Unfortunately there seems a tendency to concerntrate on Third Reich products - its this and NOT WW2 in general that a "few non-interested ideologists argue unremittingly" about. If new sets were like the Stalingrad set from Strelet there should be not complains. So much has been ignored ie early British BEF which have been totally ignored except those mini sets

Some excellent ideas here but would it be best to have the German sets made, for the sake of compatability, by Caesar which dominates this era.

Re: Some WW2 suggestions.

For me please - in no particluar order:

Dutch Army 1940
Gebirgsjäger Heavy Weapons (the standard mountain gun 36 has not yet been done in plastic)
Romanian Infantry and Mountain troops
French 1940 Heavy Weapons
US 1941 Infantry (Philippines/Pacific ToW)
French Chasseurs Alpins
more Hungarian Infantry (early & late eastern front)
Fallschirmjäger Heavy Weapons
French Colonial Infantry North Africa/Italy
Greek Infantry/Mountain Troops 1941
Titos partisans with mules
...

artillery crews:
- British/Commonwealth (long trouser, rolled-up sleeves, separete heads)
- German (one set early war with long boots, one set late war / North Africa / Gebirgsjäger / Fallschirmjäger with ankle boots)
- French 1940
- Italian
- US
- Japanese
...
