WWI artillery

Strelets

A lot of words about Romans, Linear B etc.

Back to WWI

I notice that the masters for the 8 inch howitzer Mk II are in parts. Does this mean all the guns will be issued as kits and in hard plastic (polystyrene)? The barrel seems to be in two halves - top and bottom and if this was in polyethylene it would be impossible to make a good job of this join. If it is in hard plastic I would recommend reducing the length slightly of the barrel( by about 1-2mm) and designing a washer shaped piece to glue on and cover the join at muzzle end of the barrel to give a flat appearance. Additionally it is not clear whether the barrel is going to be in solid plastic or not.
I would recommend using Polypropylene (like the Italeri and W1815 guns) if it has to be soft plastic.

Re: WWI artillery

I've been looking forward to seeing these produced in soft plastic. I've thought, "What a great challenge!" I've saved all my S*R sprews over the years for projects and the plastic has kept it's shape quite nicely. I love those CW Russian Naval guns.

But by the looks of the parts so far they sure appear to be in a hard plastic kit design. In fact, they look very similar to some of HaT's recent hard plastic kits coming out. With the announcement of S*R expanding into tanks it seems a given since these are pretty big cannons.

Bottom line, either way, I'm glad to see that S*R has experienced enough success over the years to keep expanding in unique ways. I hope to see some WWI tanks pics soon!
