A wonderfully social day out with the 750MC at Silverstone saw some great racing with Ray Mallock winning both The Haggis and The Arthur Mallock. He was nevertheless kept honest in race one (Haggis) by Steve Chaplin who initially led in his Phantom. Unfortunately, polesitter John Harrison crashed out towards the end of qualifying and didn't make the races.
Jonathan (Jonty) Hair dominated the "Cup" class in both races and, with the second (The Arthur Mallock Memorial) being run in the wet; it even allowed Jonty to keep the leading "A" Class cars in sight. Steve Eveson was guest driver in Marcus Bicknell's "Cup" Mallock and brought his oval racing experience to Silverstone by ensuring Mike Evans, in Mike McDermott's Rage, had to constantly check his mirrors.
Classic's "B" Class was won by Alan Davenport in The Haggis after a splendid qualifying position which he was unable to repeat in the Arthur Mallock race, that being won by the more consistent (only one spin!), and euphoric, Brian Hunter in his first season of racing.
Jared Wood in "D" Class spun out of The Haggis on the last lap but crossed the line to win his class in The Arthur Mallock. Ed'
