Andy Diamond and Griphon

Hi all
I have just acquired Andy Diamonds first car, it's basically a copy of a mallock mk7/8 built in 1968, does any one have any history on the car or Andy Diamond. Any info would be much appreciated.

Re: Andy Diamond and Griphon

Hi Mike,
This article may help. If it is a 1968 car it isn't a Gryphon!

Hi Mike,
Also, this could be more relevant.

Thanks Paul

I have these two articles, yes its not a Gryphon its the car he built before he bought the Gryphon name.

Re: Andy Diamond and Griphon

The car I beleive you are discussing was for sale with a European dealer last autumn and I have some photographs and information on the car offered for sale from that time. From the history given from the dealer in the sale in Europe the Andy Diamond Clubmans BMC origins were possible but I did not see any proof. There did not seem to be anything on the chassis which appeared to represent Lotus 7 derivation which the European dealer and latterly the UK dealer mention. When offered for sale in 2015 it had a bmc rear axle and drum brakes and double wishbone front suspension. The car was then offered by a UK dealer summer 2016. The nose cone fitted when recently for sale is not likely to be pre 72 original. I have a photograph of the early Andy Diamond car in period from Ted Walker and other photos of the Clubmans BMC exist. Certainly you can see the original early nose cone in the TW image. If you drop me an email I will see what images I can find for you. Best, Mark
