Proto engine

If anybody is thinking of upgrading to a proto engine found this on ebay http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/111683944263?nav=SEARCH

It would be a good base as you would throw most of it away and keep the block, head, crank and maybe the liners. Very cheap and in Nottingham.

Re: Proto engine

If anyone is doing a proto engine.

These are the con rods i used and payed about £350 for. Get them cheap and they are new.

Nice kit if you can get it for the correct price.

Re: Proto engine

If I asked you to build me an engine like yours - how much please Steve?

Re: Proto engine

Mine is a bit over kill on the bottom end really. And depends if you want new bits or good used ones . But using a mix of both i would say £2500ish (including the gold scavange pump) plus an emerald ecu. But the thing i keep saying is you cannot buy these engines second hand So if anyone built one and changed their mind after a year or so you could sell it for parts or complete for more or less the same as what it cost to build. For example a second hand gold pump recently sold for £450. If anyone wants to know more email myself or Ian.

Re: Proto engine

Could you explane the difference between regular pump and gold pump and the reason why it's needed? I use a 3stage pump on the zetec but seems like the K-sport has a totaly different system. Does it use the original hp pump for pressure side?

Re: Proto engine

Hi Onno

It retains the standard hp pump for oil pressure. The original scavange pumps are vane type and cannot cope over 7200rpm and they great air the the system. The gold pump is gear type and ok to 9000 rpm. This was why i created such a mess at donnington!
