News from Blyton's Register Track Day today - 4th April

Fabulous relaxed day at Blyton today with good weather (once the fog had lifted!) with cars being sorted in readiness for Brands and beyond, wives, girlfriends and mechanics driving Clubmans cars, new race drivers trying Clubmans for the first time, passenger rides courtesy of David Pearson in his Caterham Graduates car, and a challenging and flowing track which tested our very best drivers. The 1.5 mile track record of a 59.6 in a Benetton F1 wasn't troubled, but 7 seconds slower in a 135bhp car wasn't too shabby!

Track owner Richard Usher with his cheerful and chatty Marshals, medical staff, canteen ladies, and better facilities than some of the tracks we visit, were perfect hosts. One car was sold, one new driver flew in from San Francisco especially for the day, one regular driver's son was challenging Dad's times - until he went off! One guest driver had the car owner "twitching" more than usual with his increasing speed, a five times Speed Champion was helping one of our front-runners, our MSA Scrutineer was advising on the latest regulations, our official photographer and film-maker recorded the day (watch Facebook for the uploads soon), and two experienced drivers from F Renault and VW Fun Cup are threatening to buy S1600 cars. The day was a perfect example of the Clubmans spirit of cameraderie, competitive driving, and lots of smiles.

The way you're writing about the testday sounds like we should have been there! Shame on all of you with cars ready to go for not being there...

Good luck to all of you racing at Brands next week i'll be checking your progress on live timing and between that working in the garage to get the mk27 ready.
