Following last Saturday's 'EGM' on tyres, which was well attended and very constructive I'd like to provide a few details.
Dunlop tyres continue to be eligible, of course. Further availability in limited numbers to be confirmed before the end of March. Sorry not to be more specific.
We also agreed that Avon cross ply tyres can be used as an alternative but no softer compound than A11.
Recommended sizes are;
7.2/20.0-13 A11 - £136.60 + Vat, OD 513
7.0/21.0-13 A11 - £150.40 + Vat, OD 523
9.2/22.0-13 A11 - £184.90 + Vat, OD 568
As you will see there are two alternative fronts. the 7.0/21.0 - 13 will increase the footprint and help the A11 live longer, and the construction is a bit more modern than the 7.2/20.0-13.
The Avon tyres will be available through BMTR in Birmingham 0121 331 1122
Furthermore, we agreed that PROTO class only will be allowed to use not only the Dunlop or Avon crossplies but also any radial tyre. This will provide useful data for any future developments.
Should anyone be interested in a more durable (and slower) alternative Avon can also offer;
Front – 7.5/21.0-13 Avon 7342 A37 compound. OD 20.50/520mm, Section 8.50/216mm, Tread 7.40/187mm – at 20psi on 8 inch rim
Rear – 9.2/22.0-13 Avon 7343 A37 compound. OD 22.40/568mm, Section 11.10/282mm, Tread 9.10/231mm – at 20psi on 10 inch rim
Prices for these are; 7.5/21.0-13 A37 dry £152.00 each + Vat,. 9.2/22.0-13 A37 dry £186.50 each + Vat

I meant to say that tyres for PROTO only will be open for any type or make, cross ply or radial, in 2014. In reality the only other cross ply manufacturer we know of is Hoosier, who can offer tyres in sizes close to Dunlop and Avon.
