pellet type and killing range

can any one help, i have been on many shoots in the past couple of weeks and every time i have just managed to get my self in what i would call range ( 25 - 20 ft )of my quarry normally rabbits and wood pigeons. i take my shot and nothing seems to go down. i just get a puff of feathers and it flys off, could you recomened me a good pellet brand. i am shooting a 2.2 12ft pound smk air rifle. also i would like to know the killing range of a air rifle with this power. any suggestions welcome cheers

Right. For hunting, Logun penetrators are incredible but expensive (400 for 10 quid). Also, I know what you mean about taking the shot and them flapping off- aim just a little above the pigeon, as often they have enough reaction time to get off the ground as the pellet is speeding towards them- good luck!
