The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, along with various lenders, is


sponsoring a program called WOW (With Ownership, Wealth) in 20 states


beginning in May. The goal of the program is for 1 million more African


Americans to own homes by 2005. The reason behind this program is that


African Americans, as a whole, own a lower percentage of the nations homes


as compared to other racial groups. Nationally, 64% of Americans own


homes, 76% of Caucasians own homes and only 46% of African Americans are


home owners.




Lenders will work with prospective home buyers through home ownership


seminars, credit counseling, funding for down payments, and various


mortgage programs. These programs are for first time home buyers and low


income families as well as for those with no credit and/or impaired credit.

name, mailing address, and telephone number. Please pass this email along


to 20 everyone on your mailing list and tell your sisters, brothers,


nieces, nephews, etc. This is just one of many programs which members of


the Congressional Black Caucus have come up with to benefit the African


American community. It's time that we as a people move forward and narrow


the economic disparity amongst those in our communities!
