Thanks for the posted advice about tapping the bottom of the swans neck to tighten the tiller. I'm out of the water at the moment with my 2003 piper and the boat yard are worrying about a metal collar between the rudder and the bottom of the stern tube. Should it be able to turn freely as it does at the moment (in which case I shall grease it) or should it be fixed tight in the bottom of the stern tube (in which case we'll tap it back in)? Hopefully it's not something special to my boat!
