Sunday Social - brushing

Good Morning!

Today's topic:
Goldens are hairy beasts! How often do you brush or comb your golden? Do you bathe them regularly or just on as needed basis? Do you have special grooming tools you especially like?

Sorry I'm late getting to this today. I am visiting my dad in frigid Minnesota. Remember next Sunday is our special memorial for Bill.

Have a golden day!
Debbie

Re: Sunday Social - brushing

I don't brush Jordan very much, just comb out her feathers. She gets a bath about every other week because she sleeps in bed with me. She is in the water almost everyday from March to Oct. I think that really helps keep the shedding down.

Re: Sunday Social - brushing

I really should brush my boys more often but I actually only brush them a couple times a month. I do it more when they are really blowing their coat which seems to happen twice a year. I take them to a do it yourself dog wash place maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

I know if I brushed them more there wouldn't be so much dog hair all over the house. Trapper likes being brushed but Keevin not so much.

Re: Sunday Social - brushing

I usually try to brush at least one dog each evening. Ginger is harder to get to, because she cherishes her lap time with my hubby.

Sophie and Jake are willing to take turns. The brushing really helps to keep the floating fur down, but with three goldens, there is stil a fair amount for sweeping and vacuuming.

Hubby has the nail trim job, and I try to trim their paw fur.

Hubby and I both cooperate on dog bathing. They all have the idea, and enjoy the hand-held shower and warm water, so it is easy to get them in and out of the tub.

I think our rescued golden retrievers have a pretty good life.
Sincerely,
PJ
