Good bye Curly Murphy

I said good bye to my sweet boy last night. He was improving so much that Murphy, Beau and I went to Petsmart and Petco this weekend. He was so happy. Flirting with everyone and leaning into anyone who'd pet him. Sunday he began to throw up. Monday morning he looked tired but tried to eat a little. I took him to the vet because I was not happy with the improvement I was seeing. He just wasn't acting right. When I was there I noticed his gums were extremely pale a a bit yellow. The vet confirmed he was destroying his red blood cells. The most likely culprit was cancer in the liver. The vet said he was in pain and that he could die at any moment so I let him go.

He died surrounded by Beau and me. Beau knew he was sick and rarely left his side. After Murphy passed Beau walked around him and sniffed him. He laid down next to Murphy put his head on his back and sighed. After a few minutes he got up and went to Murphy's leash and laid down on it.

We were a pet therapy team for nearly 12 years. He helped a lot of kids and loved every minute of it. He was such a lover of life. I will miss his curly face and silly spirit. If I had to sum up Murphy it would be that he danced like no one was watching and if they were he ask them to join him.

Godspeed my curly man!

Janet

Re: Good bye Curly Murphy

Janet,

I'm so very sorry to hear about Curly Murphy. I remember your stories of Murphy helping so many children. What a wonderful and rich life he lead - as did you with him as your team captain.

My thoughts are with you and Beau in the coming days and weeks which no doubt will be filled with heartache, but hopefully fond memories of Curly Murphy will help you through them.

Godspeed Curly Murphy. You will be deeply missed by many.
