Introducing the…. Sunday Social

Each Sunday I, or anyone feeling so inclined, will suggest a topic that everyone can comment about. It will be a way to share and keep in touch - a social event. Please keep all comments friendly and kind, not critical. Feel free to add a short sentence or 2, or more if you want. Also, anyone can just post or add updates about their furkids or anything pertinent to the forum. If you have photos you want posted, email them to me and I can post them for you.

Please look each Sunday for the Sunday Social and reply whenever you get the time, any time during the coming week. The more them merrier so please add to the Social if/when you can!!

So, for starters, here is this week’s topic. We’ll start with an easy one.

What time does your dog(s) go to bed and get up? And do you have a bedtime routine?

Have a great week! Debbie

Re: Sunday Social

Let's get this Social started.

My boys go to bed whenever I do, usually between 10:30 -11:00. I let them out back and say "go potty" before we turn in. They get a treat when they come in. Then I say "night night time" and Keevin heads straight for his bed. Trapper waits in the kitchen. He always has to be a little different! I have to go get him and walk with him to bed.

They sleep on their dog beds at the foot of my bed. They are great sleepers and never wake me up during the night unless they are sick, which is very rare (knock on wood). They will sleep in until they hear my phone alarm, usually 7 or 7:30. Once they hear that, there is no dozing for me. Both of them are right by the bed letting me know I must get up NOW! What a great way to wake up!!!

Re: Sunday Social

All of ours have followed the same routine as the rest of you. Out to potty, a little treat and then off to bed. Ralphie and Hannah are no exception. If they were tired they just slept wherever we were until it was time to potty and go up to bed. The Golden's would sleep in their beds in our bedroom. Ralphie rotates between our bed and his bed on the floor. Hannah has always slept on our bed. Though lately she has taken to sleeping between our pillows and even crawling under the bedspread. When she first started doing it, one morning I thought for sure she had gotten outside by accident. I couldn't find her. Then I noticed a small lump way under the bedspread. HA!

Cheers,

Re: Sunday Social

I think this is a great idea. Bedtime for us and Teddy is between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. I take out the trash and give the "go potty" command. He does his business and goes back inside for a treat. He has two beds upstairs, but sometimes I see him sleeping at the top of the stairs with his head hanging off the top step. In the morning he doesn't get up until I do, usually around 6 a.m. He does not come downstairs until I call him, "Teddy come." It's really strange that he waits until I call and when he does come downstairs, he lies down usually near the refrigerator where I'm busy preparing his breakfast of Fromm's Duck & Sweet Potato, a tablespoon of plain yogurt, shredded green beans and Syn-Flex liquid for his joints.

Re: Sunday Social

Jordan and I keep the same hours too. I feel very lucky to have a dog that will sleep in with me if I need her to. I think maybe her being an only dog helps with that. She's on total bed rest right now, as she shredded the pads of her feet yesterday playing on cement. Does anyone know of a product that toughens up pads ??

Re: Sunday Social

Butch keeps the same hours as us. At bedtime I put him out to go potty and then he gets a small treat of some kind before we go to bed. I get up and feed him at 5:00 and let him out. It's always been that way since he and Sunny were puppies. Then we go back to bed and sleep for a couple hours more. Sunny and Butch were so cute during bedtime. They would both get on their dog beds at the same time and go right to sleep.

I could have a house full of golden's if my budget allowed me to. :-)

Re: Sunday Social

I hope that Jordan's paws are better soon. I don't know of any products that I could recommend.

Let's put this as a topic.

Sincerely,

PJ

ps Sophie and Ginger and Jake all come up to help me on the computer in the evening, and get one third of a biscuit.

Ginger stays with me, and Sophie usually does too, until bedtime. (Both of them have trouble on the stairs.) Foster Jake, being the young whippersnapper, feels free to go up and down at will.

Re: Sunday Social

Thought I better get this in before the new one tomorrow. My experience with Crystal is not like any of my other Goldens. I don't believe she lived in a house before I adopted her, so the living room and hallway to the bedrooms are still a tad bit scary to her. She prefers to sleep in the dining room or kitchen. She does not use the dog beds I have around the house. But we are working on this and making small strides. Crystal goes to sleep about 9 or 10 and likes to lay on a towel, so I have one close to where I am working in the Dining Room or should I say "my office". She doesn't join me in the living room, which is so out of character for a GR! But I have faith one day she will relax enough to come watch tv with me. It may be my pet bird that has her shying away from the Living room, just not sure at this point. I get her up about 6:30-7am to go outside before breakfast. I hope in the near future she will feel comfortable enough to come in my room and wake me up
