Not a Golden, but a 14 year old dog was rescued locally from the ice by the Coast Guard. I can't imagine the misery this poor dog must have been in. He was rescued from the ice about 4 miles from shore. The article says he lost about 30 lbs since he went missing about 10 days ago.

Yes! Also the vet that is caring for him through the rescue is sounding like someone worthy of checking out.

There is a Facebook page for our town (small, there is not a vet here) and someone put up a question asking if anyone had experience with cruciate surgery. They could not afford the fees of the two vets they consulted with. Several people recommended the vet caring for KC, his care, lower fees, and his willingness to work with people on payment.
