Re: Re: OT -- the earth moved!

Julia was so scared that she slept in my room last night. She's a worrier anyway, so now she's worrying about the next earthquake. The scary part is that the Hayward Fault, which runs through a highly populated area east of SF, has a major quake every 140 years or so. It's now been 139 years since the last big one on that fault line.

Ann, there's a volcano close to us, Panum Crater...blows every 600 years or so...last erupted 1325-1365 so I feel for her!

Tom's Place, about 10 miles away has pretty constant earthquake activity. And to think we dcided against the Bay Area..

Ann, poor Julia! It's a rational fear, given the time line, but it would be awful waiting around for the next tremor

Re: OT -- the earth moved!

Yeah, my pups were a little nervous. I am down in Gilroy area. But after some reassurance they settled down.

Re: OT -- the earth moved!

I have a memory of an earthquake that should have been scary, but I was too uninformed to be scared.

We were on the train under the water between San Francisco and Oakland and the ride was rather bumpy. Being from Chicago, we were used to bumpy train rides, but noticed that our fellow riders were looking worried.

After getting out, we found that there had been an earthquake while we were underwater. That was scary, but we didn't know until after the event.

I send Julia my sympathy at dealing with earthquakes. I am sure that she will be a trooper soon.
