Re: Question re future sets

Both Russians and Austrians (and especially Hungarians) are severely lacking in 1/72. Ottomans would be an interesting and exotic option too.

For smaller European armies, I would suggest Danes and maybe a generic set with shako, closed lapels, crossbelts with Sabre and short gaiters for use as late-period Saxons, Westphalians, Swiss, etc.

Also, while we're at it, how about some Seven Years War Russians and French, and maybe some more GNW Russians and Swedes in Strelets's new, much improved sculpting style.

Any of the above would be welcome, particularly the 18th century ones and the Napoleonic Russians and Austrians.

Also, I would agree with those who have suggested that future sets should include more than one command sprue. Most of the units I create require multiple officers, musicians and NCOs, and these write be difficult to obtain elsewhere for some of the suggested armies.

Re: Question re future sets

Dear Strelets Team,
I would like to add my voice for Ottoman Empire Infantry Nizemi Jedid:

http://theoutpost.prophpbb.com/topic358.html

Also I'm surprised that no one ever mentions Prussian Foot Guards and Guard Jagers.
Their full dress uniform with the big busch plumes atop their shakoes, would be a sight to see!

Re: Question re future sets

Hi
I would suggest:-
1. Portuguese:- Infantry (march attack poses, but please without the musket slung on the shoulder in such large numbers). Cavalry, artillery. For the Peninsular campaign with the British.
2. Technical personnel like sappers, engineers.
3. Medical
4. Mounted command with appropriate attendants/aids etc. Very useful for wargaming.
5. Ottomans would be very colourful and interesting and could be used for a wide range of things I suspect so could be very flexible. I think they fought both the French and Russians.
6. British Peninsular campaign with stove-pipe shako with a variety of infantry "march-attack" poses (and again, please without large numbers of slung muskets). Artillery and Cavalry.
7. Russians
8. Austrians

I really love the recently produced figures, the variety and quality of the March attack poses are very useful.

Hope this helps
Kind Regards

Re: Question re future sets

Great idea Strelets this news is like the golden age is back for Napoleonic soldiers.

I think both the Austrians(Hungarians in Shakos) and the Russians (in 1809 Shakos) are the best ideas so far I know Hat plan to do both but, they will do them differently Austrians in German uniform and the Russians in late war kiwer.

For the smaller Napoleonic armies like the Dutch and Belgiums you could make both Belgium Infantry and Dutch Militia, maybe with fewer poses in less boxes or split the box with a mixture of each.

The Napoleonic Ottomans are a set I have dreamed about for years finally they could be made by Strelets.

Re: Question re future sets

I think Strelets is on to something here and is poised to occupy the vital ground vacated by Hat. I suspect that many of the people who post on this forum are the hard core enthusiasts, rather than the usual people who buy the majority of your figures. I would therefore stick to the commercial mainstream and not do Ottomans (whose presence in the Napoleonic Wars was peripheral).

My interest is Waterloo so I should like to see:

French Guard Engineers
French Guard Marines
Middle Guard
Young Guard
Old Guard Chasseurs a pied
Prussian Line Infantry
Belgian Line Infantry
Dutch Line Infantry
Nassau Line Infantry
French Line Infantry in Greatcoats

Re: Question re future sets

Yes I'd like to see those too.

Re: Question re future sets

I would not be so quick to disregard the Napoleonic Ottomans we are all familiar with big five France, Britain, Austria, Russia and Prussia the Ottomans are the sixth great power from the Napoleonic Wars.

In this period the Ottomans fielded larger armies and fought more major battles against European powers than Prussia, they fought almost continually with or against France, Britain, Austria and Russia and inflicted Napoleons first defeat at the Siege of Acre in 1799.

Russia's massive army was never fully free to participant in the Napoleonic Wars due to the fear of the Ottomans on it's southern borders, only in 1812 were the Russians able to make peace on the Ottomans terms, allowing the Russians to concentrate there full army against the invasion of Napoleon's Grande Armée.

The reasons why the Ottomans have not been represented before would probably down to a lack of information, but there would be no doubt they would be a spectacular colourful exotic Army with lots of possibilities of fighting for or against various European Armies.

Re: Question re future sets

Hi Streltsies

your idea of expanding the Napoleonic range is great. You first sets are 1st class.
I would like to add more weight to what has been written already :
Austrians (Raupenhelm an shako), Russians (in stovepipe shakos) are priorities.
Prussians for Jena-Auertstedt would be great.
Austrians, Russians, Prussians, French for Revolutianary wars would be great.

... and Ottomans would be a real treat. However, I must say Ottomans would be really nice also in multiple poses not just march and advance.

I think with any of these you will have huge success.

Best regards Michael

Re: Question re future sets

I would like to add my voice to a request for early/pre- Napoleonic sets. I think that most people in this hobby have been at it a long time and probably like me have vast stocks of the common troop types. I for one would be unlikely to buy another set of British infantry in Belgic shako or late wars French and I have hundreds of Austrians in helmet and shako. The revolutionary period, immediately before the Napoleonic wars however is virtually untouched and fertile ground.

Re: Question re future sets

I think it's better to do not go to the competition on the market again the other companies, but You try to be alternative... and I like to see the Russian infantry in greatcoat for Austerlitz, the Austro-Ungarian Jaeger in corse-hat, the Prussian army for Jena-Auerstad, the 1813 Russian Jaeger, and the Portoguese army. And for the 2ww the french foreign legion for Tunisia, French-Maroccan mountain troops for Cassino. And more important to remake the Russian troops for the Crimean conflict.

Re: Question re future sets

In my opinion it would be late French Infantry, British infantry, Scottish infantry, Prussian line infantry, Prussian landwher infantry, Brunswick infantry, kings German legion infantry (hanover), Plus if at all possible all the aboves respective cavalry contingents in standing, advance and attack would be a dream come true.
Many thanks for the question phil

Re: Question re future sets

please consider marching russian line infantry 1812 and Austrian line infantry 1809.
if the appetite is even more exotic; marching Westfalen infantry, Portuguese infantry for the Russian campaign and marching wurttembergers would also be great.
finally, marching cavalry sets would also fit nicely; on this one, i would vote for marching russian dragoons 1812.Good luck!

Re: Question re future sets

If we are talking about cavalry as well as infantry, then I would like to see standing cavalry with their swords resting on their shoulders, like the summer cuirassiers in the Borodino set.

Re: Question re future sets

Dear Strelets,

I would be very keen to see figures for Napoleon's earlier campaigns (they were his most successful, aferall)and for the Peninsular: waterloo has been done to death.

So, i would like to see Austrians in helmets;
Hungarians in helmets
Prussian Musketeers in Bicornes;
Prussian Fusiliers and Grenadiers;
French in Bicornes;
Russians in shakos (at the moment only grenadiers are available);
Dutch in shakos

British in Stovepipe shakos
Portuguese in Stovepipes and/or barretina (the former is arguably more versatile, as the uniform can also serve for later spanish and some Prussian reserve regeiments)
Spanish in Bicornes

You've already done two sets of Highlanders, so I think they're covered. I prefer my figures not to be in great coats, it takes away the beauty of the uniforms. I have to say I'm not too keen on standing poses, but your marching and advancing ones are beautiful. As several others have mentioned, I use marching figures with shouldered, rather than slung muskets.

I would also be interested in seeing figures for the French Revolutionary wars, so,
Austrians in casquettes
Ditto Hungarians
British in bicornes and long-tailed coats with lapels
Prussians in casquettes
Russians in Bicornes
French in tarletons

A little exotic, but in the longer term i would like to see:
Hessians in bicornes
Badeners in helmets
Wurtemburgers in crested or dragoon-style helmets
Bavarians in raupenhelm

I personally don't need any French garde off any description, as i have more than i know what to do with!

Of course, if there was any scope for a generic set of marching figures for the Great Northern and Marlburian wars (Tricornes, no turnbacks on the coat) then i would snaffle them up like nobody's business :)

Thank you for asking!

Re: Question re future sets

Strelets
Gentlemen,

we're thinking about launching a whole line of standing/marching/advancing/etc. Napoleonic armies.
In your opinion, which armieas are the best to start with?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Best regards,

Strelets

Am I the only one who wants sets in Greatcoats?

Re: Question re future sets +1 for greatcoats

Traveller, I am with you. I would buy any sets in greatcoats for early or late Napoleonic wars

Re: Question re future sets

First couple of sets should be austrians and russian musketeers. I will anyway buy all the napoleonics that Strelets will produce.

Re: Question re future sets

How about the Ottomans who fought the Austrians and Russian... perhaps some mercenary French troops too.

Re: Question re future sets

Austrians in helmet. No one else does them - so they are a gap in the market. HAT already produces marching figures, so from a sales point of view I'd look at what they haven't done for starters.

I realise I'm a bit late but, I would like to see marching and action sets with Swedish Napoleonic infantry, these would also work to some extent for Russo-Swedish War of 1808-09 and war against Norway. HaT has the artillery and cavalry sets but their infantry set was lacking. Hope you will consider this and not only cover the big nations in this conflict.
