Subject:   Do I Pay Canadian Taxes

Message:   I am a U.S. citizen/resident employed by a U.S. company that has contracted my services out to a Canadian company. I have been in Canada working for 1 yr exceeding 330 days. US federal taxes have been taken out of my paychecks. So far so good. My accountant has now informed me I may owe Canadian taxes. I stayed in Canada purposely as I was counting on claiming the foreign earned income exclusion and receiving some tax rebate. I have now done some research but I need more clarification on my status. Because of the treaty do I owe taxes to Canada as well as the U.S.? Can I claim the foreign income exclusion and get a tax rebate?
