Message:   I am moving to the US on an Australia E3 visa and I will be deriving an annual income from two sources.

1) My US employer and sponsor of my E3 visa. Who is an independant consultant to my Australian employer.

2) Australian employer.

My Australian employer will be providing me with an income which will be net of tax free allowances such as food, rent etc thus my marginal rate of tax in Australia will be ~32%.

When I file my US income tax statement will I have to show my gross income including benefits or will I be able to show my net income post benefits. In effect, will I have to pay some form of top up tax on my Australian income.

If so I am better off getting paid 100% of my Salary from my US employer and claiming living away from home benefits in the US?
