Message:		Hi, I have seen that many people asked the same question I am about to ask and none of them got a esponse.. I wonder why.. Anyway, I am currently on my OPT and I lived in AL (worked jan and Feb) until June and moved to MA in July (working here). For federal taxes I filed 1040 NR. For state taxes, I used form 40 (for AL) and form 1 NR/PY (part year resident) for MA. Later I called the AL gov and they said I should have filed 40NR... But reading the form intructions, it seems that I was a resident... Which forms should I have used? For state taxes are we considered resident or non resident? Thank you in advance. I am hoping somebody will be able to help me (and the others).
