James S. Hicks, Company B, 26th Mississippi

Just rec'd a copy of Soldier's Application for Pension for J. S. Hicks, Hunt County dated July 21, 1909. The application confirms that he was in Company B, 26th Mississippi, enlisting August 4, 1861, captured April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, released June 27, 1865 at Point Lookout, Maryland on taking oath of allegiance.

He states his age is 67 years old (b. ca. 1842), that he has lived in Texas for 32 years (since ca. 1877) and lived in Hunt County for 3 years (since ca. 1906).

Witness to application was J. F. Huffman who states he was in Copmany C, 26th Mississippi Regiment and knows that he (J. S. Hicks) served as stated.
