I guess is time for editorials again. Although Brian seems to dislike any ctiticism on the administration, even though he is no longer part of it, I have to put on my editorial hat again, and since I has not present at tonight's meeting, I post a forum "opinion" rather than an editorial entry.
It seems that Abe Knight told John and Bill that if they didn’t agree with the town manager, they should get off the board. Once again, Abe disregards the fact that the people of Union elected John and Bill to start overseeing the administration which was running uncontrolled for several years. Abe does not want to accept that Andy Hart works FOR the selectmen and not the other way around. The job of RESPONSIBLE selectmen is to direct, aid and supervise the Town Manager in the performance of his duties. If we are to have a board of directors that play "yes man" to Andy, what do we need them for?
I want to make something clear. Since I was not present, I do not know Andy's involvement in this fiasco. I like and respect Andy, and he deserves the benefit of doubt. My comments do NOT affect Andy. Only selectman Abe Knight, who still believes that he is the arbitrary ruler in Union and makes rules as he goes along.
I hope you agree with me on this one Brian.
