Re: Re: Re: Greece

It's amazing that a town official doesn't know the offical web site. However, this shouldn't be surprizing since he is a founder and sponser of this "other" website, which also has a governtment portion that is so grossly inacurate, incomplete and biased to there own hidden agendas.

The offical web site is union.govoffice2.com

It's also surprizing that a "town" website doesnt have a link to the offical town website

I enjoy the this website but some of the editorials and government section is HORRIBLE

Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

Friend "Hidden", I appreciate your comments although I do not agree with them.
1. There is no "official website". The "Union Town Office" website (the URL you mentioned) is simply an instrument of the town office and it is included in our links.
2. If I remember correctly, the last editorial was around July. You do not seem to be very accurate in your observations.
3. Our "grossly inaccurate" government section has debated our opinions in area newspapers unchallenged.
4. It seems that the last elections proved that our "opinions" were shared by the majority of Union residents.
We like criticism and welcome it. We prefer comments from people who do not hide behind pseudonyms, but we'll accept anything.
The purpose of the "other website" as you call it is to spread information to the citizens of Union. Our bias is based on the desire to see an efficient and productive administration. Our "hidden agendas" are to establish an overseeing forum to the government actions, and voice opposition when it is suppressed. You obviously have not noticed that our editorials and news are not as critical of the current administration. That is because we see an effort on the part of our officials to improve their performance and provide us with a better and more productive government. We have not posted any criticism about anyone! We even have time now to discuss more pleasant issues, such as lighting of the tree and Historical Society events.
As webmaster, I post anything submitted that I find not offensive. I always sign my name under my articles and editorials. Approaching the holiday season, let's not only wish for peace on Earth, but peace in Union also.

Happy Holidays

Re: Re: Re: Greece

Thanks Bill, I'd rather be in Union also but Maine isn't known for it's heavy construction so I have to travel as you know. Merry Christmas. By the way the driveway is holding up well, thanks again.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

Our holiday begins with opening a gift Christmas eve. When the kids and grandchildren aren't here we have been known to open all on Christmas eve. I love the Christmas tree. A few years back I left it up decorated until March. I had to get it down before Easter- the pastels of spring clash with the bright colors of Christmas. Christmas in our home is practical, we are anti Madison Avenue's approach to the holiday. We do not charge gifts and 90% of the gifts and decorations are purchased the DAY AFTER Christmas for the following year.

This year the kids hung the lights and wreaths and the grandchildren decorated the tree.

Wishing you all a Merry CHRISTMAS. A special thanks to the UACC for a great Christmas kick off last Saturday night. We even sang SILENT NIGHT.

Looking forward to reading more from you all here and at UNIONMAINE.NET

Re: Re: Re: Greece

There is a link to the TO website on the UNIONMAINE.NET homepage

Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

can you tell me where? not trying to be smart. I just cant see or find it...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

In the "Links" page, Union group.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

So I stand corrected...but I really do think it was hidden....he he he pun was intended. But don't you think that link really belongs under the "Government" page...Nick?? I mean really the town office is the hub of the town government.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

My name isn't hidden, and yes, I helped get this website started. You will also notice that I am a sponsor which means that I contribute a small amount of money to pay for the domain. This is just one of many things that I have been a part of in this town in the last 29 years. I never hid my identity, nor did I grandstand. I have the town website in my favorites, so the address is not there and I gave Steve an answer from memory. So, shoot me!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

I don't think so Hidden. Links belong in Links page, under the proper grouping. Many people use our website as their home page, and find it easy to branch out using our links. I use the TO website very frequently, but for the life of me, I never remember the URL, so I use the link. I am also the webmaster of several other websites, including the Union Historical Society, and use the link for them as well. However, I am always open to suggestions. If more folks think that another link should be placed in the Government page, I have no problem with it. If I hear from others on the subject, I will place another link.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greece

"I don't think so hidden. Links belong in the links page"? Give me a flippin break. Practically every other page has a link. The "About you" page has 14 links, "Family and learning" has another 12 links, for example to the Vose Library, the "Leisure & Recreation" has links to the local movie theaters, so why can't our "Government" page have a link to the town office??!! You say you are working with the Town Website, so help them out and place that link in a logical place or does that make too much sence?
As far as "We have not posted any criticism about anyone!", more LIES! Under the government section on the Town & Manager link you refered to the town selectmen as a "do-little board of selectmen" who aren't serious about there position or wasn't dedicated. That seems like a personal attack on the entire board of selectmen. Does the group of you still meet every week at Bill's house? Does he approve of you calling him a do-little, undedicated and not serious about his position??

P.S. Bill this does make me grumpy but I'm not raining on yor parade and I'm not going to shoot you.
